Serial Arsonists Target South Yorkshire Businesses
Minimum Of 5 Deliberate Attacks In 1 Night
The first fire at the former Butchers Arms on Judy Row, Monk Bretton, was reported to emergency services at 3am. When fire crews arrived they found the first floor engulfed in flames.They spent around two hours at the scene and said the blaze was started deliberately.
At 4.45am firefighters were called to a second attack at Laughton Road, Dinnington, Rotherham, after reports that four industrial bins behind Poundstretcher were alight. Flames also spread to the roof of a card shop next door.
At 6.45am firefighters were called out to a third arson attack in Monk Bretton – after a disused residential home was found burning, when fire crews arrived the roof was well alight and was also believed to have been started deliberately.
On the same night firefighters also dealt with a bin set alight on Princes Street, Masbrough, Rotherham, and a blaze on allotments on Hoyle Mill Road, Hoyland, Barnsley, all were started deliberately.
